Reggio Emilia Approaach
At Young Achievers Early Learning Centre, we believe in incorporating the values of the Reggio Emilia approach in order to provide children with the best possible education. The approach is focused on the idea that the environment is the 3rd ‘teacher’. The environment must allow space for working individually, or with others in groups. Being flexible with space, time, and materials and flexibility in the way people relate to each other and their work is essential.
Reggio Emilia at Young Achievers Early Learning Centre

Key Aspects in the Reggio Emilia Approach
-
The children’s relationships with other children, teachers, parents and their classroom environment are highly significant
-
Documentation of the children ‘s learning is viewed as a way to make their thinking and theorising visible - and convey a strong image of an intelligent child
-
Project work: Where children are engaged in explorations of their world, making choices about what they will investigate, and then together with their teachers and peers make meaning together
-
100 languages: The many ways children express themselves (other than speech) with an emphasis on visual arts
-
Active listening, where children’s voices, thoughts and opinions are valued (as much as the teachers)
